Hanna Roos butterfly effect painting April 5 – 26, 2025
Opening Sat April 5 at 12-16
“The idea that something very small can have a big impact on the other side of the world is both titillating and frightening, which is what the butterfly effect in chaos theory describes. My art focuses on some of the smallest but most important inhabitants of our planet, namely insects and their habitats.
In this exhibition, the smallest take the biggest place alongside us humans. The art form is layered painting in oil on canvas. In terms of form, the images oscillate somewhere between portraits and landscapes. The youngest are portrayed in portrait form.
The portrait is the art form that throughout history has been dedicated to important people such as kings and business leaders.
The people are placed in natural environments, to remind us that we are part of the earth’s amazing but complex food web.“
